Scotland's Runner
Scotland's Runner first appeared on our doorstep in July 1986 just before the start of the second Commonwealth Games to be held in Scotland. The three editors Allan Campbell, Doug Gillon and Stewart McIntosh were steeped in the history of our sport and produced the definitive magazine for Scottish athletics for seven+ great years. It is hard to know why such a good quality publication folded - there is no indication in the last edition No 87. It can only be surmised, as always in Scotland, the circulation was too low. Nevertheless Scotland's Runner made a great contribution to scottish athletics in the period it existed.
Ian Clifton on clearing out his study presented me with an incomplete set of Scotland's Runner. As with the Scots Athlete, Alan Potts saw this copy and offered to scan them for the electronic version. Brian McAusland donated the missing volumes and Alan got to work again. That was in 2011.
At the end of 2015 Chris O'Brien of Corstorphine AAC down loaded the magazines and converted them to searchable pdf and that is what apears here. Almost simultaneously Dave Cairns donated issues 86 and 87 that had not been seen before giving rise to the question as to when the the last issue appeared.
Here is what we have - it makes facinating reading.
WARNING: The size of each of the issues is about 8MB and requires adequate download speed from your internet provider.
